Jeff Strom, age 60, died on Aug. 30, 2022 from a lengthy battle with prostate cancer that had metastasized. His loving step-daughter Kelly and her husband Jesse Otterstetter were by his side when he passed in the comfort of his home.
Jeff was born in Aberdeen on Sept. 2, 1961 to John “Jack” Strom and Evelyn Pearson Strom.
He began working at the Colonial Maple Shop after graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1980. The business closed and this is where he began his life career as an expert gardener and professional landscaper. He loved working outdoors and was passionate about his trade. He worked in landscaping up until he became too ill, which forced his retirement.
Jeff was known for his love of music and topping that list was Rush and AC/DC, among others. When he wasn’t working you could find him at a concert or sometimes out at the casino where he enjoyed playing the slot machines. He loved barbeques, family functions and a good Seahawks game. The 4th of July was one of Jeff’s favorite holidays as he loved setting off fireworks. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, car racing, drag racing and loved life! You couldn’t find a more faithful friend than Jeff.
Jeff loved traveling to Hawaii and to Reno with his life partner and the love of his life, Julie Walkowsky, who preceded him in death.
Jeff had a daughter, Melanie, who passed before him, his brother Mike, and his parents all preceded him in death.
Surviving relatives include stepdaughters: Kelly (Jesse) Otterstetter and Kara Krenz, granddaughters: Janessa and Karissa Otterstetter and Emma Krenz, grandson Dylan Krenz, nephews Joe and Jack Strom, aunts Barbara Baker and Kay Edgebert, stepsisters Cindy Wakefield and Heidi Lopez, and stepbrother Rick Strom.
