Jean (Hovila) Aronson, best known as “Jeanie” passed away Sept. 6, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup.

Jean (Hovila) Aronson, best known as “Jeanie” passed away Sept. 6, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington. Jeanie was born in Chehalis, Washington on Sept. 26, 1945, and lived in Winlock, Washington before her family moved to Montesano.

Jeanie raised two daughters and one son in Montesano, always making every holiday and milestone extra special with her baking, decorating and contagious laughter.

Jeanie worked at Beacon Elementary in Montesano as school secretary and Ovalstrapping, Inc. in Hoquiam for several years before moving to Anchorage, Alaska to be “Gran” to her six grandchildren while working at WCP Solutions. She retired in 2014 and followed her kids back to Washington where she lived in Puyallup and was always up for road trips, the beach, bowling, craft fairs, and Seahawks or Mariners games with friends and family.

Her smile and laugh lit up every room she was in.

Jeanie is survived by her sister, Judith (Hovila) Ballinger and brother-in-law Martis Ballinger of Durango, Colorado; daughter Jodi (Aronson) Schilling and son-in-law Phil Schilling of Renton, Washington; son Kurt Aronson and daughter-in-law Christine Aronson of Shelton, her six grandchildren: Zach Schilling, Jenelle Schilling, Kylie-Jo Schilling, Cassidy Schilling, Kaitlyn Aronson and Nate Aronson; and lifelong best friend Nancy (Brumfield) Anderson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Laila and Arne Hovila, daughter Jennifer Aronson, half-sister June Knight, and all of her grandparents, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Countrydale Estates Clubhouse in Puyallup.
