Janet Marie “Nana” Johnson (LaCroix) age 80, a longtime Grays Harbor resident, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, at her home in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born on Sept. 12, 1939, in Aberdeen to Francis and Elsie (Gustafson) LaCroix. She graduated from Montesano High School.
On March 20, 1971, she and Roy Louis Johnson were married in Everett, Washington. Roy preceded her in death in October of 2015.
Janet worked in floral shops for many years with her best friend, Diana Keltner. They did many artistic endeavors over the years including the Elma Fairgrounds Christmas Bazaar. She would also bake Finnish Cardamom bread, Danish puff pastries and pies for the Aberdeen Farmers Market. She did volunteer work for a variety of places. Janet was a homemaker, poet, musician, avid gardener, a lover of all living things (except snakes), a teacher and friend. She had an eye for beautiful things, and her artistic ideas and talents were limitless.
Over the years, she touched the hearts of many people. The world will be a darker place without her. Jan was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Janet is survived by her brother, Stephen LaCroix of Arkansas; daughters, Trudy McCaffrey of Aberdeen and Kathren Linke (Mark) of Aberdeen; granddaughters, Brina Hampton (Josh Pritchett) of Aberdeen, Regina Hampton (Shawn Sinnett) of Aberdeen, Samantha Johnson of Aberdeen; great-grandchildren, Megan Harper, Konrad Keller, Deklin Keller, Morgan McCombs, Westen Sinnett and Easton Sinnett.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to P.A.W.S at P.O. Box 451, Aberdeen, Washington 98520.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
