Janet Lee Barnett, 70 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam, Washington resident died on Friday, April 3, 2020, at her Hoquiam home.

Janet Lee Barnett, 70 years of age and a longtime Hoquiam, Washington, resident died on Friday, April 3, 2020, at her Hoquiam home. She was born on March 21, 1950, in Bainerd, Minnesota, to Melvin Leon and Patricia Ann (Calhoun) Walker.

The family came to Hoquiam when she was a child and they resided on Eklund Avenue. She was baptized at the Hoquiam Lutheran church.

She attended the Hoquiam schools and graduated from Hoquiam High School.

Growing up she helped by baby sitting and doing chores around the house. In her high school years, she enjoyed driving her Chevy Malibu. She had worked at Swanson’s Deli, Thriftway, spent many years housekeeping in the harbor area and working at Most Western Laundry in Hoquiam.

Janet Lee Barnett was married to James Barnett, Jr, on Dec. 9, 1995 at the Corner Stone Community Church in Aberdeen and they made their home in Hoquiam.

Janet’s travels with her sister had taken her to Minnesota to visit family members. She enjoyed baking holiday treats for family and friends, planting flowers, camping and going clam digging. Her most memorable times were attending family sporting events and family reunions. Janet will long be remembered for her caring for others and laughing with family and friends. She loved having coffee with her friends, catching up on local gossip, her cats and her dog, Buddy.

Janet Lee Barnett is survived by her husband, James Barnett, Jr. of the Hoquiam family home; her son, Michael Michelbrink, Jr. of Tumwater; her daughter, Andrea Michelbrink of Aberdeen; her step-son, Scott Barnett of California; her brother, Michael Walker of Aberdeen; her sister, Becky Pisani of Aberdeen; three grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews; great nieces and great nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin Leon Walker, her mother, Patricia Ann Walker; a brother, John Walker of Aberdeen and a sister, Cheryl Moline of Aberdeen

A graveside service was at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at the Aberdeen Fern Hill Cemetery.
