James S. Gordon, 62, passed away June 29, 2018, in Olympia, Wash. He was born Feb. 3, 1956, to Stanley and Betty Jo Gordon in Seattle, Wash., where he grew up and graduated from Cleveland High School in 1974. He attended Green River Community College (1974-1975) in Auburn, Wash. He married Kim O’Shaughnessy on Aug. 7, 1976, and they moved to Aberdeen, Wash. in 1980 to work and raise their sons. In 2009, they moved to Lacey.

Professionally, James was a hardware store manager for Pay-n-Pak and Ernst for about 18 years. In 1997, he became owner/general contractor of James Gordon Construction in Aberdeen. From 2013 to 2015, he was a plumbing specialist for Lowes in Olympia.

James had many interests. During his teenage years, he played soccer and the drums in a band. He loved camping with his family (especially at Lake Chelan), gardening and woodworking. He was a Cub Scout leader and soccer coach when his sons were growing up, and he loved playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed making people laugh and was always talking and telling a funny story. James genuinely loved to help people. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church when he lived in Aberdeen.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 42 years, Kim Gordon of Lacey; sons, Todd Gordon and Kyle Gordon, both of Lacey; daughter-in-law, Krystle Gordon of Tumwater, Wash.; grandchildren, Haleigh Proctor, Noah Gordon and Konner Gordon, all of Tumwater; brothers, John Gordon of Renton, Jeff Gordon of Aberdeen, and Jay Gordon of Auburn; sisters, Janet Swanson of Normandy Park, Wash., and Judy Gordon of Juneau, Alaska; and numerous special nieces and nephews.
