James Allen “Jim” Dancey, age 85, a resident of Ocean Shores, died on Sept. 1, 2018, at Providence St. Peter Hospital from Multiple Myeloma.

James Allen “Jim” Dancey, age 85, a resident of Ocean Shores, died on Sept. 1, 2018, at Providence St. Peter Hospital from Multiple Myeloma. Mr. Dancey was born in Fredericktown, Ohio on April 10, 1933, to Guy and Madge (Welsh) Dancey. He was raised in Mt. Vernon, Ohio and attended Fenn College in Cleveland.

He was drafted by the U.S. Army and served as a radio repairman. When he was being discharged at Ft. Lewis, he saw the views of Mount Rainier and the plentiful salmon runs of the Columbia. He decided that this is where he wanted to live. It was in Seattle that he met Kristin Lindland. The couple was married on Aug. 22, 1964, and made their home on Capitol Hill, Green Lake and Bothell.

He worked for the Boeing Company in the Basic Research Laboratories. Upon the closure of that division, he transferred to the finance division and ultimately became finance manager. In 1986, he was named supervisor of the year. He retired in 1995 and moved to Ocean Shores in 1998.

Jim was an active member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Aberdeen; was an avid bass fisherman and hunter and enjoyed wood working. During the 1970s, he served as president of the Western Bass Club.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Kristin Dancey of Ocean Shores; a son Ryan and his wife Delaina Dancey of Everett; a daughter, Jill and her husband Paul Donnelley of Maple Valley; five grandchildren, Teela Dancey, Paul, III, Logan, Hudson and Campbell Donnelley; three nephews and two nieces. Two sisters died previously.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 400 E. First Street, Aberdeen, WA 98520.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1437, Aberdeen, WA 98520.
