Irene May (Secor) Carlson was born to Gladys and Herbert Secor on Oct. 12, 1938 in Aberdeen, Washington. She lived in Grays Harbor her entire life, graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1957.

Irene married Gary Carlson from Elma on June, 3, 1961, buying their only home in 1965 in Central Park and living there for 55 years.

Irene is survived by 3 children: Ron Carlson, Jerry (Nancy) Carlson and Tracy (Larry) DeMoss, as well as 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Irene worked as an Usherette at the D&R Theatre while in high school. Upon graduation she worked at the Harbor Credit Bureau and Adjustment Co., then Duanne Dewees Motors, and finally Seattle First National Bank/Bank of America, retiring after 35 years.

In her retirement Irene volunteered at PAWS in Aberdeen. She loved cats and dogs and was a volunteer at PAWS for approximately 17 years.

Irene’s husband Gary passed away on Sept. 15, 2009 and Irene passed away on Dec. 30, 2023 at 85 years of age.

No service is planned with interment to take place at Satsop Cemetery at a later date in the spring.
