Hung Thi “Santha” Thomas, 68, Central Park resident and former Customer Service Rep. at Timberland Bank, passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2018, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.

Hung Thi “Santha” Thomas, 68, Central Park resident and former Customer Service Rep. at Timberland Bank, passed away early Sunday morning, Sept. 16, 2018, at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.

Santha was born on Dec. 20, 1949, in Soc Trang, Vietnam to Aarav Souparayalow and Huynh Thi De. She graduated from Hoang Dien School. She worked at the Post Exchange at the Soc Trang Army Airfield in Vietnam where she met Rickey D. Thomas. They were married on Aug. 24, 1970, in Soc Trang.

She came to the United States in December 1970 and met up with her husband at Ft. Lewis, Wash. She moved to Renton, Wash. for a year where she went to work for SeaFirst Bank. She then moved to Bethlehem, N.Y. for 2.5 years before coming to Hoquiam for the next 27 years. They moved to Central Park 16 years ago.

Santha worked at Pacific Bank and First Interstate Bank in Hoquiam before transferring to Timberland Bank where she retired in June of 2008.

She was a member of Central Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, gardening and teaching her grandchildren how to cook. She enjoyed being outside in her vegetable and flower gardens, where she would spend many hours tending to them. She enjoyed traveling with Rick on their multiple trips back to Vietnam and several cruises over the years. She enjoyed being with her co-workers from Timberland Bank and was a frequent attendee with the “Green Hat” lady’s group enjoying their luncheons. Her greatest pride and joy were her five grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

Santha is survived by her husband of 48 years, Rickey D. Thomas of Central Park, Wash.; daughter, Rebecca Lynn (Jon) Hoekendorf Sr. of Arlington, Wash. and a son, Ralph David (Tara) Thomas of Puyallup, Wash.; five grandchildren: Maya Thomas, Grant Thomas, Jon Hoekendorf Jr., Christian Thomas and Michael Hoekendorf.

There will be visitation for her on Monday, Sept. 24, from 1-8 p.m. in Fern Hill Funeral Home. A memorial service on Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at Central Park Baptist Church. Followed by a celebration of life at the Log Cabin Pavilion in Aberdeen. There will be an internment service at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 1:15 p.m.
