Helen Christine Undem, 94, a resident of Central Park for more than 50 years, died at Beehive Retirement Center in McCleary, Saturday, July 18, 2020.

Helen Christine Undem, 94, a resident of Central Park for more than 50 years, died at Beehive Retirement Center in McCleary, Saturday, July 18, 2020. She was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, January 7, 1926, the daughter of Virgil L. and Sallie (Christie) Potts.

Helen was raised at Tahlequah and graduated from high school there in 1944. She then moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. It was there she met Roy Undem, and they married June 20, 1945. After Roy got out of the Navy, they moved to Gardiner, Montana while Roy attended college in Bozeman. They moved to Valley City, North Dakota where both Helen and Roy attended college. Roy was a teacher and taught in schools in Elko, Nevada and then came to teach at Aberdeen High School and later at Grays Harbor College. Helen followed his career moves and in Aberdeen worked in the billing department at Grays Harbor Community Hospital from 1967 until she retired in 1990. Roy passed away Jan 6, 1995, in Olympia.

Helen played on bowling leagues here and attended the Central Park Methodist Church. She also enjoyed following her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, Mariner baseball, being a seamstress and crocheting. The family will attest to her being an excellent cook.

She is survived by a son: Jan (Janice) Undem, Central Park; three daughters: Lisa (Jim) Carossino, Aberdeen; Karen (Mike) Johnson, Longview and Kris (Dale) Nelson, Aberdeen; a sister: Arva L. (Kenny) Dingman, Bartlesville, Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Allison Roi Leigh passed away in May of 1951.

A private family service was held at graveside in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.
