Glenn “Jack” Barber, loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 22, 2021, with his wife by his side. Jack was born on Oct. 1, 1930, to Glenn and Signe Barber in South Bend, Washington. He was 90 years old.
Grays Harbor is where Jack called home most of his life. He graduated from Raymond High School in 1948 where he excelled at all sports. Jack enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on Jan. 30, 1949, where he went overseas to fight in the Korean War. After several years Jack was honorably discharged on April 4, 1952.
He was baptized and a member of the First Lutheran Church in South Bend, Washington. He was also a member of the American Legion.
In 1980, Jack graduated from Grays Harbor College with an associate degree in Fish and Wildlife Management.
On June 17, 2001, Jack married Judy Lee Bender in Montesano. She survives him at the family home.
Jack had many different jobs throughout the years. He loved fishing, was an avid hunter, storyteller and superior gardener. He was famous for his and Judy’s canned goods.
In addition to his wife Judy, he is also survived by his son Kristopher (Jeanie) Barber of Aberdeen and daughter Cindy (Jim) Barber-Wilson of Central Park; three stepdaughters: Lorrie L. (Lawrence) Ellingsen of Central Park, Janiece L. Bender of Hoquiam and Leah E. Bender of Olympia, Washington; his brother Alf Barber of Portland, Oregon; 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his son Glenn Jack Barber, his brother Gary Barber, and by the mother of his children Susan Rae Newton.
