Gladys I. Niles-Lynch

Gladys Irene Niles-Lynch passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada on Oct. 14, 1919, to Morris and Jennie Marian (Hill) Jones.

Gladys Irene Niles-Lynch passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, on Oct. 14, 1919, to Morris and Jennie Marian (Hill) Jones. Gladys was the fourth of six children. She attended school in Oregon City, Ore., graduating in 1937. She then graduated from Hastings Business College in Portland and worked for JK Gill Stationary in Portland, Hawley Pulp & Paper in Oregon City, St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen, and retired from Ovalstrapping in Hoquiam in 1985.

Gladys and Carlton Niles were married Oct. 13, 1940, in Oregon City. They moved to Hoquiam in 1960 when Carlton was transferred to the Harbor with the Ford Motor Company.

Upon retirement, she and her husband enjoyed a six week motor home adventure in Canada and Alaska with 24 couples and friends. They visited all but three Midwest states in their motor home travels. They were in Mexico and Hawaii several times and enjoyed a Caribbean cruise. Carlton died in 1995 while playing golf. In 1998, Gladys married Jack Lynch, a long time high school friend. They traveled around Oregon, reacquainting with friends from years past. Jack passed away in 1999. In 2010, she moved back to Hoquiam to Channel Point Village to be near family.

Gladys is survived by her two sons Ken (Penny) Niles of Oakesdale, Wash. and Don (Tracy) Niles, Aberdeen, Wash. She was predeceased by her daughter, Judy O’Brien. Gladys has five grandchildren; Carmen (Jon) Vanier, Craig (Kathy) O’Brien, Calvin (Jennifer) O’Brien, Chris (Jauna) Niles, Jeff (Deanna) Niles and nine great-grandchildren.

The family requests that donations be sent to the Grays Harbor Community Hospital Foundation Fund, 915 Anderson Drive, Aberdeen 98520.

There will be no formal funeral service. A private urn committal will be held at a later date at the Mountain View Cemetery in Oregon City, Ore.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam, Wash.
