Gerald “Gary” Irving Haugan, age 81, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, died on Nov. 26, 2021, at Harbor Regional Health Hospital in Aberdeen. Mr. Haugan was born on July 17, 1940, in Ellensburg, Washington to Irving J. and Velma C. (Patterson) Haugan. He attended schools in Zillah.
He moved to Hoquiam in 1965 and worked for ITT Rayonier, then for Anderson- Middleton Logging. He later worked for Grays Harbor College, retiring in 2004.
He enjoyed working in his yard. He took great pride in his work. He also enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found taking bike rides to the Bay. He loved to watch football and Nascar.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Debbie (Chris) Gregg of Hoquiam and Bonnie (Randall) Sweem of Spanaway; four grandchildren: Christina (Jason) Bosse of Lake Stevens, Britney (Joe) Conant of Graham, Crystal Gregg of Hoquiam and Cassidy Gregg of Hoquiam; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan Bosse, Charlotte Bosse, Jaxon Conant and Paisley Conant.
A committal service was held at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
