Gerald Gordon Gibbs, 93 years of age, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Riverside Place in Hoquiam, Washington.

Gerald Gordon Gibbs, 93 years of age, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at Riverside Place in Hoquiam, Washington. He was born in Port Angeles, Washington, on Dec. 17, 1925, to Jenny Thomas Gibbs and Sydney Gibbs. He grew up in Port Angeles and graduated from Port Angeles High School.

Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in 1943 and while stationed in Aberdeen he met his future wife, Catherine Siese.

They were married on Jan. 10, 1945, and had three children, Gordon, Tom and Dolores. They also raised two nieces, Dorothy and Cathy.

During his tenure in WWII he was a Seaman First Class on the USS General C. H. Muir in the Philippine Sea.

Following World War II, Gerald returned to the Harbor, where he worked in the logging/mill industry before enrolling in and graduating from St. Martin College in Olympia in 1954.

Gerald worked and retired from the State of Washington in 1977. Following retirement he and Catherine relocated to Naselle, Washington, where he resided until 2016 when he returned to the Harbor for the remainder of his life.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, brother and three sisters, his wife, Catherine, and son, Tom. He is survived by his son, Gordon (Sue), daughter Dolores, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Aberdeen with reception following.

Internment will take place next to his wife the following day at 1 p.m. at Peaceful Hill Cemetery in Naselle.

Direction is by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
