Floyd Arthur Ruggles

Floyd Arthur Ruggles passed away on Nov. 19, 2020 at his Tree Farm, Hemlock Hollow, in Ocosta, Washington.

Floyd Arthur Ruggles passed away on Nov. 19, 2020, at his Tree Farm, Hemlock Hollow, in Ocosta, Washington. He was 89.

He was born in Hobart, Washington, Sept. 5, 1931 to Maude (Bowman) and Floyd Ruggles He graduated from Ocosta High School and joined the Navy Seabees in 1950 and served in South Korea until 1954.

He met Joan McCabe in 1954 in California. They married in 1955 and lived for awhile in California where “He Was A Lineman For The Phone Company.” They then moved back to Ocosta where Floyd wanted to live. He went to work for Pac Telephone and Telegraph, (which became Pac Tel, Northwest Tel, Us West, Quest, and then Century Link) and finally retired in 1989 after 34 years of service. He went back to work for a short time and retired for a second time. He was a great hunter and fisherman. He loved to make people laugh.

His wife Joan died in April 2006. Floyd is survived by his three children, Tusdee (Dean) Crites, Trudee (George) Watkins, Gary (Michelle) Ruggles. Grandchildren, Erika (Chad) Davide, Katie Watkins, Kaycee and Jordan Ruggles, great-grandchildren: Tyler Lee, Josie Lee, Marlee Cobain. He loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his three sisters, Catherine Nelson, Arta Wade, and Claudia Poole.

We will have a celebration of his life at a later date when we can all be together and laugh.
