Ernest Albert “Poot” Nolan Jr., 76, passed away Sept. 1, 2016, in Olympia, Wash. He was born April 22, 1940, to Ernest Nolan Sr. and Edna (Everson) Nolan in Forks, Wash. Over the years, he also lived in Elma and Porter, Wash.
Because of economic conditions, Ernest had to leave school after 8th grade to work as a logger and mill write in Shelton, Wash. He married Judy Marie Harris on Nov. 20, 1961, in Shelton. He was a dedicated man who loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren. He also loved helping others and was there whenever needed. He was a member of the Matlock Community Church.
Ernest was a husband, father, grandpa and a friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Judy Nolan; sons, Jimmy Nolan and David Nolan; daughters, Tina Vest, Kathy Aldrich and Carol Vest; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; half-brother, Floyd Everson; and step sister, Mary Hendreckson. He was predeceased by his parents; and sister, Marie Gonzales.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 600 W. Main St., Elma, WA 98541. Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Judy Nolan or Tina Vest at P.O. Box 166, Satsop, WA 98583.
