Elmer Harold Lisle “Ike” was called to heaven on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, from the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle at the age of 92. Ike was a resident of Montesano. Ike was born to Paul and Rosella Alice (Hulet) Lisle on June 23, 1928, in Ocosta.
Ike grew up in Aberdeen where he attended Aberdeen’s Weatherwax High School. Ike enlisted in the Navy in 1945 and served until 1949. He was also in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves until 1957. Upon his return to Grays Harbor, he met the love of his life, Alice Elaine Muma. They married in Montesano on June 23, 1950.
Ike worked at a sawmill in Junction City and then went on to a logging camp at Lake Ozette. After camp, Ike went on to work in the woods as a shovel operator, which he had a real passion for. He worked for many companies such as GT Anderson, Francis Smith Logging, Rabey Trucking, Dave Williams Logging, Joe Gordon Trucking, Spradlin Logging and Dennis Fuller Logging, among others. He really enjoyed being outdoors. Besides logging he also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at home doing yard work.
During Ike’s lifetime he was a member of the Elma Eagles, a lifetime member at Hoquiam VFW, member of the Stumpbuster’s Jeep Club, an LCI member (Landing Craft Infantry) and a member of the Tin Can Sailors from his time in the Navy on support ships to the destroyers. Ike faithfully attended services at the Montesano Church of God and was baptized at the age of 89.
