Ella June Johnson passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on Jan. 18, 2025. She was comforted at her passing by her sons Dale (Debbie) and Larry (Becky) Johnson, as well as the amazing nurses, doctors, and caring staff of Harbor Regional Community Hospital.
June, as she was known, was born to Lee Alan and Nellie May Love in Wolf Creek, Montana.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer, her brothers Uhlein, Harless, and Jay, and sister Maggie. She is survived by her sister Fay Babcock of Camas. Surviving family members also include grandsons Mike (Heather) and their daughters Ali and Ella, and Jaymee (Shelly) and their children, Sofia, Naomi, and Mateo as well as numerous nieces and nephews and precious friends, especially her quilting club who called her “Super Needle.”
At the age of 11, she assumed the role of mother to her siblings after the death of her own mother during childbirth. She met Elmer while in high school and they later married in Santa Barbara, California prior to his departure to war. She and her boys accompanied her husband for several years while commercial fishing. She ended her working career as a supervisor at Washington Crab in Westport.
After retirement, she moved next door to her son Dale in North River where she resided at the time of her death.
A celebration of life will be held sometime in April.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary.
