Betty was born in Cosmopolis, Wash. on Oct. 3, 1925 to Lester and Mary Furlong. She went to elementary school in Cosmopolis and then to Aberdeen High School. After moving to Seattle, she graduated from Holy Names Academy and then attended Seattle University. Betty married the love of her life, Earl Miller in 1945. They spent their lives in Aberdeen where they raised their five children: Mary Foster, Kathy Hampton, Earl (Mildred) Miller Jr., Michael (Babs) Miller, and Greg (Norma) Miller. Betty is survived by her five children, nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Miller; her grandson, Matthew Miller; and her Furlong sisters, June, Gladys, and Peg.
Betty and Earl were active life long members of St. Mary’s Church and School. Betty was a member of St. Aureoles Guild. She loved her Bridge Club, Young Mother’s Club, and the Tuesday Night Dinner Club at the Elks. She truly treasured the wonderful friends in Aberdeen. Betty and Earl traveled the world extensively but their best times were spending time with family at the beach.
Betty was famous for her fried clams, her marinated crab, blackberry tarts, chocolate chip cookies, holiday dinners, and amazing birthday parties. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. We’ll miss you mom!
