Eldon Paul Mittge, born July 26, 1934, to his parents Paul and Gladys (Merrill) Mittge. He was born in Birch Tree, Mo. He passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 1, 2017, in Raymond, Wash.
He was a 1954 graduate of Willapa Valley High School. In 1955 Eldon began his service for the United States Navy until his honorable discharge in 1957.
Eldon worked as a log truck driver and was a commercial shrimp fisherman. In his free time, he loved the outdoors and hunting, especially the Eastern Washington trips. He also enjoyed fishing, clam digging, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Mittge, his brother Merrill, and his sisters Pauline, Edith, Shirley, and Carole. He is survived by his brother Joe, and his sisters Marie, and Virginia. Also surviving Eldon are his daughter Louise Mauermann of Chehalis, and five sons Randy and Rick Mittge, Bob, John, and Mike Ruddell, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to caregivers Ruthie Ruby and Eldon’s sister Virginia Dzutsoff, and to a special lifelong friend Gene Ping as well as the Raymond Paramedics and Ambulance crew.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, with a potluck luncheon to follow at the CrossRoads Church in Raymond.
