Edwin Duane Tonn Jr., a resident of Montesano, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020.

Edwin Duane Tonn Jr., a resident of Montesano, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation. He was 86.

Ed was born on June 27, 1934, in New Rockford, North Dakota, to Edwin and Etta Tonn. He was one of eight children. Ed attended school in New Rockford until joining the Air Force at 17 years of age. While stationed at Paine Air Force Base in Everett, Washington, he met Donna Rae Chaney. They married in 1956 at Sedalia, Missouri. Ed went to work for Hays Dairy in Missouri until the couple relocated to Everett, Washington, where Ed started his career with the Weyerhaeuser Company. In 1957 Ed transferred to the Weyerhaeuser pulp mill in Cosmopolis, where he worked and retired after 40 years.

Ed enjoyed many activities including rock hunting, bottle hunting and coin collecting. Ed and Donna moved to the Wynoochee Valley in 1976 where he enjoyed fishing, berry picking and cutting firewood. He was a devout Seattle sports fan, and never missed a Mariners or Seahawks game via radio or television.

Ed is survived by Donna, children: Pamela (Tim) Poole, Duane (Corrine Towner) Tonn, Jessica (Casey) Weigel and Joshua (Chelsea) Tonn; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
