Duaine Edward Everson was born on April 3, 1931, to Ernest Edward and Eva (Ray) Everson.

Duaine Edward Everson was born on April 3, 1931, to Ernest Edward and Eva (Ray) Everson. He passed away to be with our Heavenly Father on Oct. 27, 2021, in his home up Porter Creek, Washington surrounded by family. A husband, dad, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, Duaine Everson lived a life centered around the love of his family.

In many respects, Duaine Everson’s life writes like a country song. Love for family, love for country and love for God. The first was certain, the second was sure, and the third was always sure-up by Lorraine.

Duaine was born up Porter Creek raised, played, worked, and rested and got into mischief up Porter Creek. Duaine raised his family up Porter Creek where his extended family vacationed. held Everson family reunions and holidays. Duaine has passed away up Porter Creek.

That’s 90+ years of life lived up and down Porter Creek.

Affectionately known as “Trib” for his inclination to tell an intriguing and embellished story. Duaine relished being with his family and friends and will always be remembered as the centerpiece of any family event. Duaine was regularly known as the life of the party. Duaine’s life of the party attributes were best showcased in his stint as the lead singer with the Porter Ramblers where he was asked to tour with Hank Snow, the famous country singer, but declined, to go into active-duty service with the United States Marine Corps.

Duaine’s faithfulness was learned from his early years on “the farm” with his two older brothers Earnest Jr. and Arthur Everson. Life was not always easy but was always full of love and care for one another. Duaine often recalled having to forgo school at times to take a leadership role in the family logging business while his father was hospitalized in the 1940s to care for his beloved mother.

Duaine’s faithfulness to his family led to his faithfulness to his country while serving on active duty as a Marine overseas during the Korean War. Duaine was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps and returned to Porter Creek where he married Lorraine Gonzales on Feb. 18th, 1956. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past February.

Professionally, Duaine spent 46 years working in the logging industry. His long-time employer was Weyerhaeuser from 1962-1992. Duaine was known throughout the forests of the Pacific Northwest as one of the foremost heavy equipment operators in the logging industry. After countless stories and many close calls in the woods, Duaine retired from logging in 1992 to his second career where he will forever be immortalized as “Grandpa,” “Papa Money” or “Grandpa Tractor.”

The sustaining focus of the last three decades of Duaine’s life was the care and attention given to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed working on the farm, traveling with family, plus attending sporting events, birthday parties, and life events that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. He loved his family and loved the farm where everyone would gather as a family along with friends. He loved taking everyone out for a drive on the tractor around the farm. He would spend hours driving his tractor around “The Farm” while he belted out some of his favorite songs by Eddy Arnold.

Duaine is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorraine Everson of Porter, Washington; his daughter, Loretta Everson Tronson (Dennis) of Cashmere, Washington; his son, Denny Everson (Cheri) of Tenino, Washington; granddaughters: Anya Tronson (David) Belcher of Wenatchee, Washington; Amaris Tronson (Nick) Longmire of Chelan, Washington; Jennifer Everson of Olympia, Washington; Alisa Everson of Olympia, Washington; Camille Collins of Tacoma, Washington; , and one grandson, Cayce Collins of Tumwater, Washington.

He is also survived by 14 great-grandkids and seven great-great-grandkids, along with countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews from the Everson and Gonzales family line. Duaine is preceded in death by his mother Eva Everson and father Ernest Everson, older brothers Earnest Junior Everson and Arthur Everson.

Duaine will be buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Elma, Washington with Marine Corps honors. The family will be holding a family only graveside celebration, Monday, Nov. 22, 2021.

A celebration of his life will be held after the family graveside service at “The Farm,” 313 Porter Creek Road, Elma at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2021. All that knew Duaine Everson are invited and are welcomed to ‘The Farm’ to celebrate his life where he loved life.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
