Douglas Zachary Larsen, 28, passed away Aug. 11, 2022 in La Grande, Oregon while traveling with friends.
Douglas “Zack” Larsen was born July 19, 1994, in Olympia, Washington to Douglas and Sandra Larsen. He is survived by his parents, sister Kendra and brother Aaron, as well as aunts, uncles, a nephew, cousins and many wonderful friends.
Zack attended Cosmopolis Elementary School, Miller Junior High, Aberdeen High School, Grays Harbor College and St. Martin’s University.
From an early age Zack loved sports and was a natural athlete. Baseball, basketball, soccer, he put 100% into whatever he was playing. He played on numerous teams and was able to meet and befriend countless people. With his various baseball teams he was able to travel to play in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Canada and even the Dominican Republic. He was proud to have been honored with the GNAC 2014 freshman of the year award and All League Shortstop.
Zack had a ready smile and was liked by almost everyone he met. He was kind hearted and generous. He was concerned with the homeless population and was making plans to offer help and resources to those in need. Not just a roof, but mental and physical help.
Zack worked with his dad in construction. They worked together for others for several years and recently started a business together. His organizational skills and hard work will be greatly missed.
Serene settings in the outdoors were a comfort and delight to Zack. The beach, the mountains, a forest, lake or river were a place of peace and refuge to Zack. He enjoyed beautiful sunsets, starry nights and beautiful flora and fauna which brought him joy and tranquility.
Zack had very deep feelings and thoughts that he expressed in his writing and art which he shared with friends and family.
He had a love of animals, especially cats and will be missed by Crashy Kitty and Sammy.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. at the Aberdeen Rotary Log Pavilion. All are welcome.
