Douglas “Doug” Alan Craig passed away on Nov. 26, 2024, after being diagnosed in September with terminal brain cancer. After a short course of treatment, he enjoyed time at home with family until his passing. He was 73 years old.

Doug was born on Jan. 19, 1951 in Aberdeen to parents Thomas Mortimer Craig and Irene Rose (Sevcik) Craig. He was a graduate of Aberdeen High School class of 1969 and also attended Grays Harbor College. He married Jane Davenport on Dec. 11, 1971 in Aberdeen. Doug served in the Army National Guard from 1970-1977. He also worked for Swanson’s grocery store from the age of 16 until he was hired by the Aberdeen Fire Department on Oct. 23, 1973. Doug was hired as a firefighter and remained with the department until he retired on March 31, 2009 as the assistant fire chief. Doug loved doing woodwork of all different kinds, digging for clams, spending time with his family, attending events to support his grandkids, and continuing the tradition of camping each summer at Wynoochee Lake with his wife, kids, and grandkids.

Doug is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Jane Craig of Cosmopolis; his daughter Nicky Craig of Cosmopolis; his son Kevin (Jacke) Craig of Montesano; sister Kathleen (Tom) Cotton of Shelton; brothers Dan (Laura d. 2016) Craig of Aberdeen, David (Narlene) Craig of Salem, Oregon, Richard (Martina) Craig of Bremerton, and Don (Peggy) Craig of Richland; grandkids Kyle, Mason, and Andee Craig all of Montesano; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Irene Craig, as well as his sister, Jean.

A special thank you goes out to Michelle Nava, who was Doug’s caregiver and side-kick from the end of September until his passing. She was a blessing during this difficult time.

A service/celebration of life has been planned for Feb. 1, 2025 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Aberdeen Rotary Log Pavilion.
