Douglas Charles ”Butch” Heggie passed away on July 11, 2022.

Douglas Charles ”Butch” Heggie passed away on July 11, 2022. He was born to Floyd Heggie and Eva Hanson on Dec. 6, 1939, in Becida, Minnesota. He was raised in Becida and Bemidji, Minnesota and graduated in 1957 from Bemidji High School.

On April 5, 1958 Butch married Mary Kay Heathman in Becida. They were married for 64 years.

Butch worked as a meat cutter for Heathman’s IGA in Bemidji, Minnesota from 1959 to 1966. After moving to Aberdeen in 1966 he was a meat cutter at Highway Grocery and Meat. From 1969 to 2002 he was a painter for numerous companies including Rognlin’s Inc, Foster Painting, Hillard Paint Co., McCullough Painting and Stork Painting. He then retired. He was a part of the Hoquiam Ramblers Motorcycle Club and Blue Pacific Good Sam.RV Club. He enjoyed baseball, bowling, hunting, fishing, wood carving and woodworking, spending time with family, and watching the grandkids’ and great grandkids’ sporting events.

Butch is survived by his wife Mary Kay at their family home; sons Rick (Mona) and Dean (Cindi); daughters Ann (Darrell) McKinney and Lori Coady; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sons Dale and Tom, grandson Ryan; both his parents, brothers Elmo and Lynn, and sisters Orlee, Marlene, Ellen and Helen.

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 6, 2022 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Grays Harbor Country Club, 5300 Central Park Drive, Aberdeen WA 98520.
