Dorothy Maxine Desimini, 96, longtime Westport resident, passed away on August 14, 2020 at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen.
Dorothy was born on April 2, 1924 in Westport, Washington to Fay and LaVeta (Caldwell) Wade. She grew up in Westport and graduated from Ocosta High School in 1942. She moved to San Francisco after graduation and then to Seattle working for Boeing for the remainder of the war effort.
On March 22, 1944, Dorothy married Guy Desimini in the Congregational Church in Montesano. He passed away on Sept. 27, 2012.
They moved to Oregon City for a while and returned to Westport. In 1950, they bought the Pine Tree Tavern and worked there for 41 years until her retirement in 1991 when she sold it.
She was a member of the Oregon City Elks Lodge # 1189; life member of the Westport VFW, Post 3057; and a life member of the Westport American Legion. She enjoyed going to the casinos, playing the piano and watching good movies.
Dorothy is survived by her son Rocky (Karen) Desimini in Baker City, Oregon; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Guy; a half-brother Jim Wade and a half-sister Patsy Warren.
There will be a private graveside service for Dorothy in Montesano’s Wynooche Cemetery. A celebration of her life is being planned for the spring and details will follow then. Burial arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, WA.
