Donna Hamilton passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on Wednesday May 11, 2022. She was 99 years old.

Donna was born in Bremerton, Washington on March, 29, 1923, to parents George and Mable Perry. She was raised in the Wishkah Valley where she had to walk 10 miles in her bare feet, up hill both ways, to school and back. She graduated Valedictorian of her class.

Donna moved to Aberdeen after graduation where she met and married her first husband Clarence Brandt. They lived in Aberdeen for nine years then moved to Melbourne just outside of Montesano. Together they had three children. Clarence was killed in a logging accident in 1955.

Donna married Bill Hamilton in 1964. They had one child together. They divorced in 1981.

Donna liked to describe herself as mean, ornery and contemptible and those that knew her would absolutely agree! Donna had a wit about her that kept you on your toes and the more she picked on you, the more she liked you. Donna was also feisty and fun loving and she loved to dance.

Besides working full time at various jobs, Donna was very active in her community. She belonged to numerous clubs including the Wynoochee Valley Grange, the Rebekahs and the Eagles. She was always volunteering for something. Donna also coached girls baseball and worked in the concession stand for many years.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brothers Byrd and Gene Perry, her husband Clarence and her “more like a son than son-in-law” Chuck Ayres.

She is survived by her children Nancy Ayres, David (Teresa) Brandt, Suzan Quinton and Yvonne (Daniel) James, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-law Barbara Perry, Violet Marshall, Clara (Todd) Panaghetti and Betty (Bill) Ice, brother-in-law Bert (Jean) Newton and far too many nieces and nephews to count. She loved you all!

Donna’s family would like to invite all who knew her to a celebration on her life on Saturday May 21 at 1 p.m. at 59 Melbourne Road, Montesano.
