Donna Arlene Smith, 85, went to be with our Lord on Oct. 04, 2021, in Spokane, Washington. She was born in Montesano, Washington on Nov. 24, 1935.

Donna was one of 13 children raised by Willard and Emma Crass. In her early years Donna fostered many special-needs, hard-to-place and emergency placement foster kids.

Donna later adopted four children as her own.

In 1973, Donna married Thomas J. Hall who had two boys of his own Bill (Sherry) Bright and Bob (Tammy) Thomas. Donna was a handy seamstress — making clothes for her kids and relatives and also making her daughter’s wedding gown.

Donna was always happiest when she was holding a baby. She was a full-time mom until her kids were out of grade school. Donna worked as an apartment manager for HUD, then working for the State DSHS office in Aberdeen and Elma.

Donna enjoyed working on puzzles of any kind, reading, cooking and playing Shanghai rummy. She loved to travel, once driving to Tennessee by herself.

In 1997 Donna married Norman Smith — the love of her life. They lived in Montesano.

She was an active member of the Montesano Church of God for many years serving God with a strong faith.

Over the course of her life there were so many who loved and cared for Donna.

Matthew 5:4 reads “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Donna is survived by brothers Roscoe and Charlie Crass, sisters Byrla Mueller and Pat Masiello, daughters Patrina Sims and Heidi Browne (Brian), sons Robert, Mark (Lisa) Hall and many nephews, nieces, grands and greats. She is preceded in death by her parents Willard and Emma; brothers Loren, Oriville Crass, Robert, Perry and Charles Whitney; sisters June Rakestraw, Barbara Ann Crass and Merle Clark; husbands Thomas Hall and Norm Smith; son Bill Hall; daughter Diana Klamn and grandson Jeff Hall.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Church of God. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov 6 at the Church of God in Montesano.
