Donald William Peterson passed away Saturday May 23, 2020, at age 78 in Montesano, Washington, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, to Donald Peterson Sr. and LaVina Peterson on August 27, 1941.

Don grew up in Aberdeen, Washington. He graduated from Aberdeen Weatherwax High School in 1960. A year after school, Don married the love of his life, Florence Peterson, on October 27, 1961, in Aberdeen, Washington.

Throughout life, Don had always been a hard-working man. After Don had finished high school, he joined the WA National Guard in 1960. When Don was honorably discharged in 1968, he worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and a dairy farm on the Wynooche Valley. Later in 1973 he joined the log trucking business. He had such a passion for driving he became an owner and operator of his own logging business from 1979 to 2005 when he retired. Don was also apart of the Washington Log Trucking Association and Aberdeen Elks Club. Don had several hobbies that he enjoyed in his life such as hunting and fishing here in Washington and in Anaheim, British Columbia. But his favorite of all was camping trips with his family at Wynooche Wildwood.

Donald is survived by his wife of 58 years Florence Peterson of Montesano, Washington; his son Jayson (Rugena) Peterson of Montesano, Washington; his two daughters Suzi (Tony) Deck of Olympia, Washington and Tracey (Bob) Denholm of Stanwood, Washington; and by his siblings Dan (Ginny) Peterson of Aberdeen, Washington and Darlene Hansen of Shelton, Washington. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Amanda, Dawn, Allison, Austin, Ashlyn, and Michael; his two great-grandchildren, Russell and Jaxon; and his four nieces Shawn, Erin, April, and Lisa. He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and LaVina Peterson.
