Donald McKinlay Wilson of Cosmopolis passed away Monday, June 28, 2021. He was 82. Donald was born on May 8, 1939, to David and Zola May (McKinlay) Wilson in Aberdeen, Washington. Donald was raised in Vesta Creek. After a short two years in Renton after high school, he spent the rest of his life in Cosmopolis.

After graduating from North River High School in 1957 “Mac” went to work for Boeing until 1960 when he obtained a millwright position at Weyerhaeuser where he was known as a most skilled craftsman not leaving any job until it was completed to perfection. It was at this time he made Cosmopolis his home. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Grays Harbor SDA Church and the Olympians Hiking Club.

In retirement, and before, Donald enjoyed the outdoors. Throughout the year he made plans for hunting, fishing, hiking, backpacking and camping. He was also a bookworm with a large collection. During time off from Weyerhaeuser, he spent time traveling the country as a long-haul trucker, his biggest passion in addition to the outdoors.

Donald was dedicated to many people in his life and loved his family with his full heart. He is survived by daughters Valerie (Michael) Williams of Tacoma, Washington and Carol Ann (Steve) Dey of Aberdeen, Washington; his brother Bill (Lynette) Wilson of Sisters, Oregon; his eight grandchildren: Mercedes, Michaela, Zackery, Brooke, Kiana, Maaleek, Jeremy and Sydney; his four great-grandchildren: Dior, Emerson, Cooper and Jace; his nephew Scott (Kim) Wilson and niece Susan (Dave) Wilson-King. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant son Craig Allen Wilson.

A viewing will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with services following on Saturday July 10, 2021, in the chapel of Harrison Family Mortuary, 311 W. Market St., Aberdeen. Graveside services will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Cosmopolis, Washington, along with a reception following the service at Highlands Golf Course in Cosmopolis.
