Donald (Don) Wesley Ring, 82, of Copalis Crossing, Washington, passed away on May 7, 2020, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Aberdeen, Washington.
Don was born on June 26, 1937 in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Ed and Pearl (Madison) Ring. Don joined the U.S. Army when he was 17 years old and served as an MP. He was stationed in Japan for most of his service. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Don returned to Lincoln and married Joan Hancock. They became the parents of four children. They were later divorced.
Although Don’s main occupation over the years was long-haul truck driving, he had many trades and talents; he learned to weld, build machinery, and fly airplanes and helicopters. One of his helicopter jobs was to fly the traffic reporter over the city of Seattle for one of the radio stations.
Don married Anna Burgher in 2005. After his retirement, Don built picnic tables, lawn furniture and bird houses. Don became a member of the Copalis Crossing Assembly of God church at Copalis Crossing.
Don is survived by his devoted wife, Anna. He is also survived by his son Don Jr. (Karrie) of Crestone, Colorado; daughter, Jenine (John) Manesiotis, of Alamosa, Colorado; step-children, Matt (Jill) Burgher, Belfair, Washington; Larry (Lynette), Hoquiam, Washington; Dan Burgher (Teresa), Malone, Washington; Jayson (Jessica) Elma, Washington; Cindy Roberts (Mike) Copalis Beach, Washington; a sister Kim, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and sons Ron (Terri) and David, a brother, Bob and sisters, Linda and Sharon.
The family suggests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association; Leaukemia and Lymphoma Society; COPD/American Lung Association. A memorial service in celebration of Don’s life will take place at a future date when social gathering restrictions are lifted. Arrangements are made by McComb and Wagner in Shelton, Washington
