Born April 27, 1932, in Lynden, Wash., the Rev. Don E. Keller died March 15, 2018, after a bad fall.

His family and friends invite you to a memorial service July 28, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Lakewood Presbyterian Church, 8601-104th Street SW, Lakewood, WA 98388.

Don served as pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Aberdeen from 1984 to 1997, retiring July 1997 and then pastored at St. John’s Chapel By the Sea, Moclips/Pacific Beach from 1998 to 2010. This time “retirement” worked. In 60 years and eight months, he served five churches in the Pacific Northwest. He would also like to be remembered for 60 seasons of pitching Fastpitch and was looking for a team at 85. He volunteered as Chaplain for Gray’s Harbor Fire District #8 for three years.

Don was a 1950 graduate of Olympia High School, earned a BA in Greek from Monmouth College in Illinois, and received a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania.

Don is survived by his brother Bernie (Catherine); former wife Nancy; daughter Joni; son Eric; grandson Weston (who will play the violin for Grandpa’s service); and wife Carol. Don and Nancy’s first child, Julie Elizabeth, died at birth.

Don loved the time he spent preaching, teaching, volunteering, and sharing his gifts of laughter and humor as he interacted with others in church or community service. He had a genuine curiosity about the lives of others and never stopped learning something new from anyone he met. Friends and family miss him very much, love him dearly, and continue to learn from the example he left for us. Like disciples, we follow Jesus along the road, recognize him at the table, and will – in God’s good time, be TOGETHER FOREVER!
