Diane M. Archie, age 78, passed away at Harbor Regional Medical Center on May 13, 2021. She was born in Aberdeen to parents Maynard Potts and Violet Krause Potts on July 12, 1942. She attended schools in Aberdeen, graduating from Weatherwax High School in 1960. She was proud to be a member of the yell staff then called Song Queens in her senior year. After high school she attended Grays Harbor Business College where she graduated with a secretarial degree.

She met her husband Ed Archie while at Weatherwax High School, and they went to their first prom together. Ed And Diane were married in Reno, Nevada in 1963. They were married for 58 years.

Diane had several jobs over the years. She first worked after business college for Pearson’s Store in Aberdeen and also for the Grays Harbor PUD #1. When the couple moved to Seattle, Diane worked in downtown Seattle for Frederick E Baker Advertising. Later when they returned to Aberdeen Diane worked as an educator’s assistant for both Aberdeen and Cosmopolis school districts. She enjoyed working with the kids.

Diane’s greatest joy was raising her two sons Evan and David and creating a loving home. They were all close to extended families. Weekly family dinners and get togethers were regular events for the family. She enjoyed baking and making recipes which were passed down from her mother and grandmother. She dearly loved planting bright and cheerful flowers, family trips to the beach; and both reading and watching adaptations of classic novels. She was a true woman of faith and was involved in many church activities through her spiritual journey. Diane had an ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She had kept in regular contact with several close friends, some for over 60 years. She will be remembered for her wild blackberry pies, a sense of style; and a kind and compassionate heart.

She is survived by her husband Ed Archie, son Evan Archie, granddaughter Sarah Archie and great-grandson Axel Filyaw, all of Cosmopolis. She is also survived by her sister Jane (Ed) Kazinsky of Missoula, Montana and her brother Roger (Cindy) Potts of Elma, Washington, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son David Archie.

At Diane’s request there will be no funeral or service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation or to charity of your choice.
