Dennis Dotson Sr., 82, Oakville resident and owner of Dotson and Sons Construction, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Dennis Dotson Sr., 82, Oakville resident and owner of Dotson and Sons Construction, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington.

Dennis was born on Jan. 22, 1937, in Ira, Virginia, to Earl and Ruby (Young) Dotson. He grew up in the coal mine country of Virginia and worked cutting timber for the mines as a young kid. In 1963, he moved to Michigan for a while and then back to West Virginia. He then moved to the Oregon coast, where he fell timber for the next 15 years. In 1974, he moved to Aberdeen and then to Oakville in 1977 and has lived there ever since.

Dennis has owned and operated Dotson and Sons Construction for the last 38 years, building homes in the Grays Harbor, Pacific and Lewis counties areas and was on the job as recently as five weeks ago.

He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting with his hounds, fishing and working.

Dennis is survived by a son Dennis (Vicki) Dotson of Elma, Washington, and a daughter, Robin Kinkade of Oakville; four brothers: Alvie, Ervin, Tony and Sam Dotson; two sisters, Nell Buchholz and Betty Lewis; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Dixie.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
