A celebration of life for Arvilla Moore who died on Nov. 23, 2017, will be held Jan. 13, 2018, with a service at the South Bend United Methodist Church and reception to follow at the Raymond Elk’s Lodge.

ELMA — John William Thorson of Montesano died Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at Summit Pacific Medical Center. He was 86.

At his request, no services will be held.

MCCLEARY — Elaine Jasper, longtime Hoquiam resident, died on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at the Beehive Retirement Center in McCleary. She was 87.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hoquiam VFW on Jan. 13, 2018, at 1 p.m.

MCCLEARY — Linda Louise Guffanti died Monday, Jan. 1, 2018, at her McCleary home. She was 69.

George Thomas Vessey of Elma died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was 65. Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary of Montesano.

Rosemary Ruth Elaine Reed of Aberdeen died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was 90. Arrangements are by Harrison Family Mortuary of Aberdeen.

Valerie Schmidt

Valerie M. ‘Val’ Schmidt, Central Park resident and local bank teller, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen. She was 59.

A memorial service is being planned for later in the year and a full obituary will follow in The Daily World.
