David Pierce Ridgway passed away Aug. 15, 2023, surrounded by his family. Dave was born March 24, 1944, to Bruce and Wanda (Pierce) Ridgway. Dave attended Wishkah Valley School and graduated in 1963.

December 4, 1966, Dave married Linda (Marbut) at the Wishkah Valley Church. Dave and Linda raised their three children, A’Dee (Walker), Pierce and Brent in the family home that they built. Dave’s lifelong dream was to reside on his Grandpa Pierce’s homestead and with hard work that became a reality.

Dave was a Charter Member of the Wishkah Valley Volunteer Fire Department and in March of 1967, Dave joined the Aberdeen Fire Department. Dave worked his way up to Captain in the department and retired in 1995.

Dave was active in the Wishkah Valley Church and served 40 years with the youth at the church. After retirement, Dave, along with Linda, for 5 years went on mission trips with AWANA Clubs International with students from around the United States. Dave also coached fifth and sixth-grade basketball at Wishkah Valley School. Dave wanted to make sure that the basketball program taught players the fundamentals of basketball. In 1986, Dave was able to co-coach a team of Grays Harbor and Pacific County basketball players that traveled to New Zealand and Australia. His son Pierce was on that team.

His wife Linda, daughter A’Dee Walker, Montesano; and son Pierce Ridgway, Montesano survive Dave. Also surviving are grandchildren: Danica (Andy) Middleton, Tiffini Walker, Garrett Walker, Hayden Walker, Trevor Ridgway, Trace Ridgway, Kara (Jake) Mercer and Jaiden Ridgway, seven great-grandchildren: Taya, Millie, Finley, Lettie, Irena, Cora and Archer, his brothers Tom (Connie), Arizona and Gary (Char) Ridgway, Wishkah Valley; his brother- and sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces and many cousins.

His parents Bruce and Wanda Ridgway preceded Dave in death as well as in-laws Don and Nancy Marbut, his brother Matt Ridgway, his son Brent Ridgway and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the Wishkah Valley Community (4281 Wishkah Rd., Aberdeen, WA 98520).
