David Henry Bates, 74, of Aberdeen, died in Aberdeen Friday June 22, 2018. He was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Tacoma, the son of Charles H. and Eleanor E. (Swearingen) Bates. David graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1962 and worked as an auto mechanic for his father at Bates Repair and then his father’s Union 76 Service Station and various other locations.

David is survived by sons: Darrin, Aberdeen and Robb, Hoquiam and their children; and a brother, Doug (Diane) Bates, Hoquiam and a sister, Judy (Dick) Veloni, Aberdeen. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Eleanor Bates.

There will be no formal services. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen.
