Hoquiam resident, David Arnold Riffe, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia on Nov. 18, 2025 at the age of 63.
David was born on Oct. 31, 1962, in Aberdeen, Washington, to parents Naaman R. Riffe and Isabel G. (Baldonado) Riffe. He graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1981 and then went on to work at Hoquiam Plywood. He put his heart and soul into his work and considered it his home away from home, as he immensely enjoyed every person he worked with.
He married Carmen Johnson on Sept. 29, 1984, in Hoquiam.
David’s hobbies included hunting and horses. Some of his fondest memories were hunting trips on horseback in Winthrop with his father by his side. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing pumpkins for his grandson, always trying to grow them bigger and better every year.
He was a family man that loved his family deeply. The family would like everyone that knew and loved Dave to find a special memory that you may have shared with him and hold it close to your heart.
David is survived by his wife, Carmen of Hoquiam; his mother Isabel Riffe of Hoquiam; son Matthew Riffe of Hoquiam; daughter Ashley (Steve) Heywood of Montesano; grandson Sawyer Heywood; brother Damon (Shelly) Riffe of Hoquiam, brother-in-law Kevin Johnson of Cosmopolis; nephew Chase (Sophie) Johnson of McCleary; nephew Zachary (Mya) Riffe of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; niece Breanne Johnson of Cosmopolis; great-nephews Jack Riffe and Tate Johnson; great-niece Brooklyn Johnson and a special friend, Maddie (the office dog).
He is preceded in death by his father Naaman Riffe.
At Dave’s request, no services will be held.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary.
