Darlene D. McCaw, age 79, a lifetime resident of Aberdeen, died on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home in Aberdeen.

Darlene D. McCaw, age 79, a lifetime resident of Aberdeen, died on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at her home in Aberdeen. Darlene was born on Dec. 29, 1938, in Aberdeen, Wash., to Benjamin Ellsworth and Dorothy Marie (Salisbury) Jacobs.

She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1957 and attended Grays Harbor College. She worked as a secretary for Paul Bitar for several years prior to devoting her time to her family.

On Sept. 1, 1962, she and Stuart McCaw were married. After Stuart’s death in 1985, she began working for Dr. Robert Mysliwiec and remained there until the doctor’s retirement in 2002.

Darlene had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 57 years. She also loved her monthly lunch dates with her girlfriends from high school.

She is survived by a brother, Alan Jacobs of Olympia; her companion of 28 years, Herb Bray of Aberdeen; a son, Ted McCaw of Aberdeen; two daughters, Kimberly McCaw (Steve Stewart) of Aberdeen and Susan Ball (Brian) of Aberdeen; six grandchildren, Kayla Godfrey (Leland) of Montesano, Kristen Carson (Emily Podiak) of Olympia; Stuart Ball of Hoquiam, Samuel Ball of Aberdeen, Jonathon Ball of Aberdeen and Allie McCaw of Montesano; and a great grandchild, Nevaeh Bradshaw. She was preceded in death by a brother, Benny Jacobs.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at the 40 et 8 Club in Aberdeen. A private interment will precede the service at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen. In lieu of flowers the family requests online donations be made to the Virginia Mason Foundation at virginiamasonfoundation.org.
