Dale Edward Johnson Nov. 26, 1933 — Oct. 12, 2022

Dale passed peacefully at his home in Bloomfield Village, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Toni (53 years of marriage), his five children: Debi (Mrs. Darcy Carr), Linda (Mrs. Loren Nauss), Steve (and Mrs. Jennifer Johnson), Scott Johnson and Patricia (Mrs. Robert Blee), eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, his sister Mina (Mrs. William Bickar), sister Joyce and brother David Johnson.

Dale graduated from North River High school in Brooklyn, Washington, University of Washington Engineering School, Juris Doctorate from George Washington Law School, MIT Sloan School, and numerous leadership and management programs at Harvard University.

He served in the United State Navy, Central Intelligence Agency for 10 years — covert and later overt, Senior Level Executive with General Motors for 19 years, DJ Associates, Inc, and Zamplas Johnson, P.C.

Dale served on many boards including University of Washington Engineering School, Michigan Bar Association (50 years), Camp Oakland Youth Programs (later renamed Crossroads for Youth for 25 years), Bloomfield Village Police Commissioner for 25 years as well as a term as Village President, Birmingham Athletic Club, Invetech, Pro Ecco, Bombardier, Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church, and many others.

Dale had a wide circle of friends from all walks of life. The “early morning” Birmingham Athletic Club group was a real favorite, many law, corporate and community friendships, including numerous foreign dignitaries across the globe as he served his country in the CIA and corporate life. The Orchard Ridge Bible Study group for 10 couples, who met for 25 years, was an important turning point in Dale’s life.

Dale was a “man’s man” and appreciated a firm grip. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, camping, backpacking, logging and chopping wood and was a proud rower for the United States Navy. He had a passion for cars (especially trucks). He traveled in every state and most countries throughout the world as he served with leadership, courage and sacrifice.

Dale loved his family and was always proud of their many outstanding accomplishments. All who knew and loved Dale remain grateful for his presence. He was a man of many gifts and now rest in the peace and love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, 11 a.m. at Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church, 1340 W. Long Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills.
