Clifford Stanley Foss of Amanda Park died Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, in Aberdeen.

He was born on April 11, 1956, in Valley City, North Dakota. He is the son of Gloria Miller Foss and Donald Peder Foss. He was raised in Oregon and spent his teenage and adult life in the Pacific Northwest. He married Denise Nichelle Peterson in Lake Quinault, Washington.

His career was mainly in the lumber industry (cedar) and included the production of cedar shingles and shakes, furniture making, and decorative articles including clocks, candle sticks and wall art. He had the talent of seeing beauty in old wood, mainly ancient old growth trees that he found buried under ground. Some of his wood art can be seen in the landscaping at St. Peter’s Hospital in Lacey, Washington.

He opened a fishing tackle store in Westport, Washington in the 1980s where he made and sold handcrafted fishing poles, lead weights, spinners and other fishing tackle. His fishing rods were very popular.

Cliff was a master archer and enjoyed this activity with his son, Jesse.

He went on in other business pursuits which included the raising of rabbits as well as developing unpatented inventions. He was a man of many talents!

He was a religious man with deep faith in God and had many spiritual experiences. One of these experiences saved the life of a man who had been in an accident when his car left the road and plunged into a ravine. Cliff had woken up during the night with a vision of a child drowning in a creek. Cliff and his son checked nearby creeks and found a truck in a ravine with a man alive, trapped inside. This experience was shared in an article published in The Daily World (Aberdeen).

He was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Bernard Donald Foss and granddaughters Kristian Kelie Theel and Abigail Josephine Robinson.

Survivors include his children: Tersia Eileen Theel, Nichelle Leigh Foss, Firinichia Estevez, Clifford Jesse Foss and Tracy Elaine Foss. His surviving brothers are: Daniel Foss, Howard Foss, Clayton Foss, Darrell Foss and Peder Foss. His surviving sisters are: Shelly Rigsby, Deborah Foss, Bernice Foss and Jeanette Foss. His grandchildren are Taylor Theel, Alexander Jesse Morris, Caleb Riley Martin, Brennan Joel Theel, Jordan Sisson, Wyatt Holland, Isabel Foss, Marley Collins, Austin Sisson, Alyssa Foss, Garrett and Kellan Wheelock. His great-grandchildren are Athena Marcia-Kelie and Elijah Andrew Johnson and Kehlani Lee Moore.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Quinault Valley Chapel followed by a funeral. Burial will be at Quinault Cemetery and a potluck reception will follow.
