Charles Keith Burke, age 79, a longtime Cosmopolis resident, died on June 6, 2022, at his home in Cosmopolis.

Charles Keith Burke, age 79, a longtime Cosmopolis resident, died on June 6, 2022, at his home in Cosmopolis. Mr. Burke was born on March 22, 1943, in Aberdeen to Clyde Marion and Mary Rebecca (Round) Burke. He attended schools in North River and graduated from North River High School in 1961. He attended Stanford University where he had received a football scholarship. After an injury ended his football hopes, he returned to the Harbor.

Keith married Linda Hagen in 1964, from which came a son Tom Burke. He would later marry Karen Cornie and had two daughters, Misty and Marissa. After that divorce, he married Dixie Marbut.

He had worked as a logger for various companies, including Weyerhaeuser, Northwest Log, Don Bell Logging and Double D Logging. He also spent 10 years in Alaska as a log scaler for Citifor.

Keith had been a longtime member of the Loggers Playday Committee.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Rita Hart of Cosmopolis; son Tom Burke (Ellen) of Cosmopolis; two daughters, Misty Kemp (Shawn) of Bellingham and Marissa Requa of Billings, Montana; and two brothers, Raymond Burke (Regina) and Bruce Burke (Jane). The extended family includes six grandchildren: Jarod Burke, Ryan Burke, Marianna Kemp, Kate Kemp, Montanna Requa and Cody Requa; and great-grandson, Lincoln Burke. He was preceded by a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde LeRoy and Carol Burke.

An urn committal service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at the North River Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Brooklyn Grange.

Cremation arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
