John R. Caldwell
Please join us on June 7, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the South Beach Christian Center in Grayland as we celebrate the beautiful life of Markham resident John R. Caldwell who passed away Dec. 29, 2024. Refreshments will follow the service so we can share more memories of this wonderful man. A private family gathering will follow at Aberdeen Lake.
John Richard Caldwell Jr. of Aberdeen passed away in Lacey at the age of 78. He was born on July 2, 1946, in Portland, Oregon to parents John Richard Caldwell Sr. and Ruthe (Caldwell) Caldwell. He was a graduate of Benson Polytechnic and in 1966 he joined the Oregon Air National Guard and served for six years.
On June 7, 1965, he married his sweetheart, Sandra (Wilkening) Caldwell in Boise, Idaho. They moved to this area in 1986 and John worked for the Westport Shipyard for 24 years. After retirement, he began a small business called My Grandpa’s Wooden Toys.
He was a member of the South Beach Christian Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, prospecting for gold, boating, and building just about anything.
John is survived by his wife, Sandy Caldwell; sons Jason Caldwell of Helena, Montana and James Caldwell of Essex, Connecticut; sisters Barbara Jean George and Carol Ann Anderson, both of Portland, Oregon; as well as two wonderful grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruthe Caldwell and his brother Frank Caldwell.
