Ceceil Yvonne Kloempken, a longtime Wishkah Valley resident, passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 24, 2020. She was 78.
Yvonne was born on August 27, 1941, to Elizabeth (West) and Leo Riemann in Aberdeen, Washington. She grew up in the Wishkah Valley and graduated in 1959 from Wishkah Valley High School. After graduating from Grays Harbor College in 1961, she was employed as an office clerk at the Grays Harbor PUD.
Yvonne married Ronald J. Kloempken on September 2, 1961 in Aberdeen. In the early years of their marriage Yvonne enjoyed watching and helping Ron work on and race his car. She sometimes drove in drag races as well. She was a fan of many types of auto racing throughout her life, and she and Ron passed that interest on to all three of their sons.
After several years as a homemaker raising their three sons, Yvonne worked as a secretary at Aberdeen High School, and later, retired from Wishkah Valley School. In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
A member of the Wishkah Valley Community Church, Yvonne was known for her kindness and friendly smile. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cheerfully served her family and proudly doted on all of her grandkids.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Ron, at the family home, her sons Ron Jr. (Rawni), John (Jill), Mike (Lisa), six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, her sister, Caroline Jobst, and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are entrusted to Harrison Family Mortuary in Aberdeen. A memorial service will be announced once the social distancing restrictions are lifted.
