Carol Jane Compo, 70, Grays Harbor resident and former caregiver at area nursing homes, died Monday morning, July 31, 2017, at Grays Harbor Health & Rehab Center in Aberdeen, Wash.

Carol Jane Compo, 70, Grays Harbor resident and former caregiver at area nursing homes, died Monday morning, July 31, 2017, at Grays Harbor Health & Rehab Center in Aberdeen, Wash. Carol was born on July 26, 1947, to Gerald Wilbur and Dorothy (Fink) Compo in Camp Lee, Va. Most of her youth was spent following her father around to wherever the Army sent him. She graduated from Battle Ground High School in WA. She married Ernest Stroup in Contra Costa County, Calif. on May 14, 1968. They later divorced. She moved to Grays Harbor in 1972 and worked for various nursing homes caring for patients. She also worked at the Southside Swanson’s Laundry for 19 years. She enjoyed crocheting and doing crafts. Carol is survived by two sons: Vincent (Gayl) Stroup of Aberdeen and Ernest Stroup of Hesperia, Calif.; a daughter Vickki Stroup of Aberdeen; nine grandchildren: Ebbon, Robert, Lennia, Thomas, Sativieia, Aneshia, Jennifer, Dustin and Hailey; 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her companion of 20 years, John Wilkins in 2004, three brothers: Larry, Denny and Frank Compo.
