Carl Harris Giddings, 71, former resident of Brooklyn, Washington, passed away with family by his side on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024, at home in Grapeview, Washington.
Carl was born on March 24, 1953, in Aberdeen to Oliver “Ollie” and Theodora “Teddy” (Wieland) Giddings. Carl was raised in Brooklyn and graduated from North River High School in 1971. He always said there was no better place to have grown up. He had one wicked sense of humor and he was loved by all family and friends who loved him.
Carl met and fell in love with Karin Lane in McCleary, Washington, and they married on Dec. 27, 2002. He enjoyed camping and riding dirt bikes with their family in the Packwood area, as well as attending the biannual Packwood Flea Market with Karin’s parents. One of their favorite activities was throwing darts, where Carl achieved Grandmaster at several tournaments.
Carl began splitting shakes at various mills after graduating from high school, then progressed to working in furniture companies, and ultimately retiring after several years with the Simpson Door Company in McCleary. He was a true woodworking craftsman throughout his career.
Carl is survived by his wife, Karin, of Grapeview; daughters: Shelly (James) Lev, Raymond; and Angela (Chris) Trevino, Shelton; sisters: Martha (Bernie) Hooper, Shelton; Dora (Dennis) Austin, Lacey; and Andrea Pollick, Hermiston, Oregon; brother: Verne (Helen) Giddings of Bothell; uncle Carl (Margie) Wieland, Olympia; grandchildren: Candice Giddings, Patsy Lev, Anna Lev, Kimber Trevino, Roman Trevino, and Preston Trevino; mother-in-law Reita Lane; and brother-in-law Mark (Tina) Lane; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
