Billie was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and son. He was a grounded, hardworking family man. He was someone you could always count on and because of this, he was respected by all. He was the husband that worked overtime to heal the heart and soul of his loving wife, the husband that would hand over every penny to his wife, so she knew there was nothing to worry about, all he asked for in return was her love, coffee, and cigarettes.
He was the kind of father that when the lights went out from a storm, would rush home from work to hook up the generator to get the lights on so his children wouldn’t be afraid anymore. But also, so mom could make him dinner! He was the father that taught you how to do things so that when he couldn’t get to you, you had the confidence to do it yourself. However, if needed, he was on the phone walking you through it. He never expected the world from his children, only wished they would be hard working, good people.
He was the brother that made sure he made time to go and visit with you and your family, so you knew he was still there. The brother you could count on if you need a helping hand whether it be to work on a car or just needed a ride.
He was the uncle that would sit and have a couple drinks with you and laugh and joke and of course, find ways to make his wife blush with embarrassment from some sly joke. Just as a small reminder that he’s thinking of her.
He was the son that worked hard to make his parents proud. The son that did all he could to make sure his parents were included in his family’s life. The son that would help as much as possible to make sure his parents were okay.
Through all our tears and sadness as we grieve the loss of this hard working, loving man, we take comfort now knowing that he is somewhere laughing and joking with his once lost family, with a cup of coffee and a cigarette in his hand, watching over all of us, and protecting us any way he can.
