Betty L Moore passed away peacefully in Aberdeen on Feb. 21, 2025 at the age of 99 with her loving family by her side. She was born June 23, 1925, in Antigo, Wisconsin to Robert and Dora Mikkelson.
In 1943 she married John J. West. They had seven children together before John’s death in a hunting accident in 1950. Betty then met and married James R. Moore in 1952 and together they had six children.
James was in the Air Force and the family moved to several bases before settling down here, making many lasting friends along the way.
Betty was a fabulous cook — best home made bread and cinnamon rolls. She loved playing Yahtzee with anyone who came over. She holds the highest score in our family. She loved any day she could sit on her porch in the sun and listen to country music, going to casinos and large family dinners.
Her family was always her greatest joy. The memories she leaves her family will will keep us all together and strong.
She is survived by her daughters Bernice “Bunni” Lund, Judy Tatham, Diane Chamberlain, Christine Moore, Carla Carr, Virginia Parson and Dawn Buchanan; her sons Daniel West, James Moore Jr., and Doug Moore; 34 grandchildren and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husbands John J. West and James R. Moore Sr., sons Gerald D. West and Edwin C. West, daughter Jayne M. Morgan and granddaughter Angela J. West.
There will be a celebration of life held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seattle Children’s Hospital of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
