Audrey Amy Holmeide, 95, of Aberdeen, Wash. went to be with her heavenly father and loving husband Edward Holmeide on Nov. 6, 2016 in Olympia while surrounded by her loved ones.

Audrey Amy Holmeide, 95, of Aberdeen, Wash., went to be with her heavenly father and loving husband Edward Holmeide on Nov. 6, 2016, in Olympia while surrounded by her loved ones. Audrey was born on June 30, 1921, to William Henry and Betty Katrina (Anderson) Christian in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

In 1946, she married Edward Holmeide, an American soldier and moved to Aberdeen, Wash. There they raised two sons, William (Bill) Holmeide and Fred Holmeide. Audrey was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother and a remarkable gardener. As an avid gardener, she created and cultivated her own rhododendron hybrids from seed. Her home garden on Carl Way in Aberdeen was once featured in the Better Homes and Garden magazine. She joined in 1968 and served as the Grays Harbor Chapter President of the American Rhododendron Society for many years and enjoyed participating in the seed exchange program. Audrey also enjoyed watercolor painting and created some extraordinary pictures that she gave to anyone who would enjoy it.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 1992, her sister Lillian Little, and her mother and father. She is survived by two sons, Bill and Fred, six grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home chapel, 2208 Roosevelt St, Aberdeen, WA 98520. Interment will follow in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.
