Arnold Lee “Arnie” Walker, age 83, a resident of Aberdeen, died on Aug. 20, 2021, at his home in Aberdeen. Mr. Walker was born on in Darrington, Washington on July 16, 1938, to Charly Lee and Naomi Ellen (Cook) Walker.
Arnie attended Lake Quinault school and graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Jan. 21, 1957, to Jan. 20, 1961. He served at Fort Walton Beach, Florida for four years. There, he met his wife Carolyn in Feb. of 1959 and was married on Oct. 3, 1959, at the chapel of Fort Walton Air Force Base
After his discharge, he returned to the Harbor and lived in Hoquiam. He worked for ITT Rayonier for 24 years in one of their pods. He then purchased the pod he was in and named it Dead Horse Logging. He retired in 2004.
After the Grays Harbor Gulls disbanded, he formed the Rain Baseball team which played for four years.
He liked to do yard work, gardening and had a green thumb. He enjoyed his grandchildren and liked to spend time at the casino.
Surviving relatives include his wife Carolyn Louise Walker of the family home in Aberdeen; daughters, Jennifer E. Walker of Soldotna, Alaska and Lisa Ellen Walker of Hoquiam; two sons, Martin Lee Charles Walker of Soldotna, Alaska and Keith Jason Walker of Olympia; a brother, Charles Nation of Hoquiam; one sister, Sharon Carlson of Spanaway; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by two sisters, Charleen Raught and Peggy Ralston.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.
