Angela Houng Ngor Lee

Angela Houng Ngor Lee passed away on May 23, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born on Sept. 18, 1949, in Toisan, China to Pui Lau and Shue Kuen Lee. Angela was a loving, dedicated, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend.

As a young child, she left her home to travel to Hong Kong with her grandmother. She endured life’s challenges with grace and courage. While living in Hong Kong, she met and married the love of her life, Gar See Lee. A couple months later, Angela accompanied Gar See to America to start her life in Aberdeen, Washington. She was married for 53 years and was blessed with three wonderful children and four grandchildren who brought her much joy and happiness. Angela unselfishly loved her family and supported them throughout her life. She continued to support her family in China and even helped two siblings immigrate to America to better their lives.

Together with her husband, they operated the Canton Café. The family-owned restaurant has been serving customers for 103 years. Angela was a talented cook and can make anything from scratch. She enjoyed preparing delicious meals for customers, visiting and making new friends. At home, she enjoyed making dumplings, BBQ pork buns, and other dim sum dishes for family gatherings. She enjoyed digging clams and pan frying them.

Angela was also an avid gardener. She grew a variety of vegetables and maintained a fruit orchard. She was generous in sharing her produce with neighbors, family and friends.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. She is survived by her husband, Gar See; three children: Jeffrey, Cindy (Ben) and Lenny; their grandchildren: Alex, Lauren, Timothy, and Zoe; and three siblings: Tony Lau, Mei Luu and Yui Go Lau.

There will be a time of visitation and viewing on Friday, June 2 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen. A service will be held on June 3, 2023 at 12 p.m. at the Fern Hill Chapel and interment will follow in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen.
